Bill Matthei’s career lasted more than 60 years and spanned all areas of competitive gymnastics from athlete to administrator. As a high school coach, Matthei lead Bay View High School (Wisc.) to one national, five regional , 11 state and 13 local championships. He judged Big Ten meets 41 years, which is a national record among major conference judges. Matthei also won the Ohio State University Big Ten Coach’s Award for his contributions as an instructor of the sport.
