A former gymnast, Bud Marquette’s career is best defined as a women’s coach who administered, innovated and set new standards for the sport in the 1960s. Marquette created the Southern California Aero Team, also known as SCATS, which raised the bar for quality for women’s gymnastics during the 14 years he ran the program. Marquette’s career spanned 35 years as a coach, but was also a founder of the U.S. Gymnastics Federation where he served as its first Vice President.
