As with many gymnastics personalities, Abe Lober began his life in Philadelphia and graduated from Temple University after emigrating from Russia. Lober, who was a high school physical education teacher in California, began judging and quickly made his way to judging a broad spectrum of meets from local to national. Lober served as a member of the Southern California Gymnastics Judging Association. His career went uninterrupted for 43 years.
