Dick Holzaepfel spent the majority of his career coaching at the University of Iowa, compiling a 179-86-2 dual meet record in 27 years and producing 38 All-Americans. Although his teams only produced one NCAA Championships team medal, Holzaepfel enjoyed four undefeated seasons, as well as two Big Ten Championships. Individual athletes under Holzaepfel accomplished feats that included five NCAA individual events national champions, 36 individual Big Ten Champions and 50 Big Ten individual event winners.
