It is only appropriate that Dr. E.A. Eklund was dedicated to the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame. After all, it was his idea. Eklund worked most of his professional life in and around the sport, from positions that ranged from National Secretary of the American Turners to the US Gymnastics Olympic Committee. In 1948 Eklund wrote to Roy E. Moore, chairman of the AAU Gymnastic Committee, with the idea of annually electing members to a national hall of fame. Despite a lack of apparent interest at the time, Eklund’s dream became a reality 11 years later.
