Six-time gold medalist at the NCAA Championships, Bud Beyer missed his shot at Olympic success in 1940 when he was called upon to serve his country in World War II. Sixty-two years later, Beyer was named an honorary member of the 1940 team by fellow Hall of Fame members. He coached at the University of Chicago and New York State, as well as a member of the US women’s coaching staff for the 1948 London Games.
